I’ve always felt Deadly Premonition held many of those same B-movie properties, which is why the game has garnered such a cult following in the ten years since it released.Įven with its cult following, I and many others were surprised when a sequel was announced earlier this year. Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2, Suburban Sasquatch, anything by Neil Breen, and The Room are all terrible films, but there’s an intangible quality which makes them deeply enjoyable. Maybe if a more experienced company other than ToyBox developed the game then maybe the technical problems would be better but it just shows that while the passion for the story was there, the care and time to make the game optimized wasn't and sadly I have to give the game a 5/10 because of it.I spend more time than I would care to admit watching B-movies. I'm not giving it a low score because its a Switch exclusive, but because of the technical problems it has such as a low frame rate, bad resolution and number of glitches that I have experienced in my 8 hours or so of playtime. For a game in 2020, I can overlook the subpar graphics and weird animations because that was what made the original so good was its story and its only fitting for a sequel to have that so-called charm but to have as low as 10 fps in the open-world, specially during combat is just unacceptable in 2020. As of now, if you like playing games at a decent frame-rate (30+ fps) or not experiencing bugs like glitching through things at random then avoid this game but if you like low frame rate, subpar graphics and janky animations and cut-scenes then this game is for you but I just can't recommend as someone who appreciates video games and how they are made with care and passion. Story is weird and great but the frame rate and bugs just take so much away from the open word, combat and the story itself that i'm saddened that this is what we got.
